Oyako Day 2026, celebrating its 24th year, will be held on Sunday, July 26!
What if there were one day each year when parents and children could pause and truly connect with one another?
A day that helps strengthen the bonds shared by families everywhere.
Inspired by this vision, photographer Bruce Osborn founded Oyako Day in 2003.
For many years, Bruce Osborn’s OYAKO portraits have graced the covers of The Mothers’ Industry Newspaper. This month features father Rio Segan and his son Ka’imi, accompanied by a heartfelt message about a father’s unconditional love, presence, and the precious gift of watching his son grow.
The 51st Oyako Day Online Talk Live welcomes Yae, a “half-farmer, half-singer” and singer-songwriter. Join us as we explore her life rooted in farming and music, and how she nurtures what she has inherited and passes it on to the next generation.
Submissions for this year’s Oyako Day Photo & Essay Contests are now closed. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared their photographs and stories, each revealing a unique expression of the bond between parent and child. The judging process will now begin, with the results to be announced soon.

第51回「親子の日オンライン・トークライブ」のゲスト、Yaeさん。お父様は、社会に向けて行動で発信し続けた故・藤本敏夫さん。お母様は、歌を通してメッセージを届け続けてきた加藤登紀子さん。Yaeさんは、その大きな発信力を受け継ぎ、「半農半歌手」として、農と歌という二つの道を歩みながら自らの思いを発信し続けています。受け取ったものを守るだけではなく、育て、次の世代へ手渡していく。今回のトークライブでは、そんなYaeさんの生き方を、「親子の日」が大切にしている思いに重ねながら、お話を伺えたらと思っています。
