The Kasado Island D51 592 Preservation Society, a local citizens’ organization in Kudamatsu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is dedicated to preserving and restoring the historic steam locomotive D51 592, which is permanently displayed on Kasado Island. In addition to maintaining and repainting the locomotive, the group actively contributes to the local community by organizing events such as children’s sketch contests and the production of annual calendars.
As part of this year’s activities, the society will present a special screening of OYAKO on July 26, Oyako Day. The film was originally produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Oyako Day.
Kasado Island, the home of the society’s activities, is one of the most scenic locations in Kudamatsu City. Its beautiful landscapes are also featured throughout OYAKO, adding another layer of meaning to this special screening.
We are truly delighted that the film will provide an opportunity for people to reflect on the importance of parents, children, and family, and to share that experience together.
We hope this inspires communities everywhere to organize their own screenings of OYAKO and celebrate the spirit of Oyako Day.
