Our connection with Kudamatsu City in Yamaguchi Prefecture dates back to the production of the film OYAKO, which was created in celebration of the 10th anniversary of OYAKO Day.
At the time, the mayor was Shigemasa Ikawa, a well-known and respected figure who led the city for four terms. Often described as a “hands-on, charismatic mayor,” he devoted many years to serving the citizens of Kudamatsu.
It was Mayor Ikawa who officially established “OYAKO Day” as a city ordinance to commemorate the completion of the film.
His successor, Mayor Masuo Kunii, has continued to champion this initiative, ensuring that the spirit of OYAKO Day lives on.
Today, Kudamatsu OYAKO Day is cherished as an annual tradition, deeply rooted in the local community.
We sincerely hope that OYAKO Day will continue to grow and thrive as a locally beloved event, embraced by the people of Kudamatsu and enriched by the beauty of nature throughout the seasons.
And someday, we hope to visit Kudamatsu again.
